1. Replace Watch Batteries and Fix and Adjust Watch Bands
Your watch just died, bummer! So before you toss it in the trash, let’s try a new battery. At KD Fine Jewelers, we can replace watch batteries, usually while you wait! We will try a new battery for you and make sure it works! If it doesn’t work, no charge!
We can also fit your watch band to your write perfectly. We can replace broken pins with a new pin. And if the hands are loose, we can adjust and tighten them! If your watch needs an adjustment, bring it to your favorite local jewelry store, KD Fine Jewelers, and we can help you out.
2. Engraving
You can get your engraving done here in Rochester, MN, right at your local jewelry store! As long as it fits on our engraving machine, we’re good to go! We can engrave pretty much anything gold, platinum, or sterling silver that you have. We can engrave stainless steel. And this one time, we even engraved a couple names on a pair of wooden table tennis paddles!
If you want to add a nice message, name, or graduation year to something, we can do it. Also, we can provide the piece for you, like nameplate necklaces, medical ID tags and bracelets, “baby’s first” gifts, and more. Personalized engraved jewelry and keepsake items make great gifts, and we can take care of the engraving part for you!
3. Pearl and Bead Stringing and Restringing
Uh oh! Your favorite pearl necklace got caught and pulled apart. We can fix that! Bring all the pearls to us, and we will restring them right here at KD Fine Jewelers. We can redesign and combine several necklaces to make a cool new one, too.
However, even if your pearl necklace hasn’t broken, you may need it restrung. Over time, the string can stretch and become fragile. For instance, if you wear it often, we recommend getting it restrung about once a year. If you’re not sure, bring your pearls or gemstone bead jewelry in and we can check it for you. 🙂
4. Necklace Untangling
You can trust your local jewelry store to help you gently untangle your necklaces. Don’t be embarrassed, it can be hard to store chains and we understand they get tangled easily.

5. Gold Plating and Rhodium Plating
Gold plating or rhodium plating is an easy way to quickly change the look of your jewelry without remaking it completely! Most local jewelry stores can do electroplating, and we at KD Fine Jewelers have a great electroplating set up. We can do yellow gold plating, rose gold plating, as well as bright white rhodium plating. Electroplating is a system where jewelry is dipped into a special plating solution, and metal is deposited onto the jewelry using an electric current. It doesn’t hurt the jewelry, or the jeweler!
