Pearl – June Birthstone

“The pearl is the queen of gems and the gem of queens.”

– Grace Kelly

Pearls are also one of the birthstones for June. Coveted by royalty for centuries, these magnificent gifts from the sea start as small grains of sand or other material and grow into beautiful iridescent orbs. Pearls are found all over the world in many different shapes, sizes and colors.

They were originally harvested by free diving in the French Polynesia blue lagoons. Many are now cultured in small farms where they raise the Black-Lipped Oyster. This helps to ensure the true beauty of the Tahitian pearl.
